This book, Keeping the Light On, is my prophetic word to every parent, spouse, grandparent, sibling, and loved one who has kept the light in their heart on for their loved one gone astray from their faith and their family. In some cases, the light has grown dim as the heart has grown weary in well doing over time. The expectation of the prodigal’s return can seem more and more improbable as time goes by. For others, the light is just a flicker and soon all hope and faith for the prodigal’s return is about to go dark. If this is the case, then this is a call to relight the flame of faith, hope, and prayer for a miracle, such as depicted in the famous

Parable of Jesus.

Here’s what God’s message is to you:

  1. Jesus is “the Light of the world” (John 8:12). As long as He lives as the Light in your heart and your home, through your prayers to God your loved one’s return is possible.

  2. God’s Word is a Light shining the truth that it is His desire to see your loved one have a spiritual awakening. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). Christ is the Light who will lead your loved one on the pathway to God.

  3. The Light of Christ shines on all—the lost as well as the found—to show the way home. “That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world” (John 1:9).

  4. Your loved one may reject the Light, but it still will always shine the way straight to the cross. Romans 2:19 says, God is a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness.”

  5. Be like Paul, who wrote to the church in Rome, “that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers” (Romans 1:9).
